Chronic sleep deprivation can be incredibly dangerous, and it comes with many consequences.

#3. It increases your risk of heart disease.

If you regularly get six hours of sleep or fewer, you are putting yourself at a higher risk of heart disease. When you don’t get enough sleep, it causes your body to produce higher levels of chemicals and hormones that can lead to heart disease, as well as many other health conditions, like diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure and obesity.

#4. It could lead to brain damage.

Getting your daily dose of sleep is an essential part of protecting your brain. In fact, one study that was conducted by Swedish researchers found that after even a single night without sleep, levels of molecules that are brain damage biomarkers increase.
