Clean CPAP Every Morning

You know that CPAP machines need to be cleaned regularly, but did you know that it's best to clean your machine every morning? After a night of use, your CPAP machine can become full of bacteria and other germs. By taking the time to clean your machine each morning, you'll ensure that it stays bacteria-free and in good working condition.

Change CPAP Filters Regularly

Your CPAP machine has filters that help to keep the air clean as you sleep. These filters need to be changed on a regular basis - typically every 3-6 months. Depending on the type of CPAP machine you have, you may need to change your filter more or less often. Check your CPAP machine's manual to see how often you should be changing the filter.

Replace CPAP Hoses and Tubing Regularly

Just like CPAP filters, CPAP hoses and tubing need to be replaced on a regular basis - typically every 3-6 months. Over time, CPAP hoses and tubing can become cracked and worn, which can lead to leaks. To prevent leaks (and ensure that you're breathing in clean air), regularly replace your CPAP hoses and tubing.

Avoid Exposure to Sunlight

You might not think about it, but exposure to sunlight can damage your CPAP machine. UV rays can cause the plastic on your CPAP machine to break down, so it's best to keep your CPAP machine out of direct sunlight. If you're going to be using your CPAP machine while traveling, be sure to pack it in a protective case.

Don't Use Harsh Chemicals

When cleaning your CPAP machine, avoid using harsh chemicals. Harsh chemicals can damage the plastic on your CPAP machine, and they can also be dangerous to inhale. Stick with mild soap and water when cleaning your CPAP machine, and avoid using any strong chemicals like bleach, ammonia, or chlorine, which could leave harmful residue on your CPAP machine.
