Traveling and Sleep Apnea Therapy
Summer is the perfect time to travel, but how do you keep up with your CPAP or BiPAP therapy while you are on the go?
When you have a to rely on a machine to get your sleep apnea therapy at night, traveling can seem like a headache. It’s much easier to imagine leaving your CPAP or BiPAP machine at home while you are on vacation, but this will only lead to the same symptoms that led you to get sleep apnea treatment in the first place. Taking a break from your therapy for even a day can make those symptoms return, and luckily, at CPAP Liquidators, we offer a variety of used BiPAP and CPAP machines that are small, portable and easy to travel with. We’ve also come up with a few tips to help you travel with your CPAP or BiPAP machine:
#1. Make sure that you have plenty of supplies.
The last thing that you want is to have to run out to the store for extra supplies for your sleep apnea therapy, so it’s always a good idea to have extra. This is especially true for mask cushions, because they can easily fail. It’s also important to have a backup battery in case there isn’t an adequate power source.
#2. Keep your prescription with you.
If something happens to your CPAP or BiPAP machine, or you need extra supplies while traveling, having your prescription handy is a must.
#3. Empty out the humidifier chamber.
Before you pack your CPAP or BiPAP machine, it’s incredibly important that the humidifier chamber is empty. If you don’t empty it, it could spill out and damage your machine.
