#1. Lose Weight
Excess weight can lead to a constriction in your throat, but luckily, even losing just a few pounds could help to remedy the problem. In some cases, people who have lost weight have gone into complete remission. However, you should know that if you regain the weight, you will likely develop sleep apnea again.
#2. Steer Clear of Alcohol and Some Medications
The muscles in the back of your throat relax when you drink alcohol and take some medications, such as sleeping pills or tranquilizers. This makes it more difficult to breathe, and these things can actually lead to a form of sleep apnea. Avoiding alcohol and these types of medications may help you breathe easy all night long.
#3. Stop Smoking
Smoking actually makes sleep apnea worse because it harms the blood vessels and the lungs. When you quit smoking, you'll notice an almost immediate improvement in your breathing.
